're going to do. i will be calling harry reid's office tomorrow to ask and to change the filibuster rule. we have to make the move. i agree. i understand ipoem. -- the poem. it was beautiful. >> you are on. welcome. caller: i just want to comment that i find it very revealing that secretary clinton is trying to avoid the benghazi scandal and had on new glasses but not answered one question about how many americans were killed in benghazi. host: i am so incredibly happy right now and so grateful for all that obama has laid out for his second term. we are following tweets. you are welcome to join the conversation. >> i really was and pressed by the whole inauguration. i was able to watch the first one. probably early this morning. i thought it was really professional. the politicians, i wish they would get together like that when it is time to change lolls and improve the stability of this country. i was impressed overall, especially with kelly clarkson and the beyonce. they were impressive with their music. i listened to them sparingly no when they have a couple of hits. i wish to put up more

. what has harry reid rand democrats done in the senate? absolutely nothing. how many days since they passed a budget? >> 1,357. >> 1,357 days since democrats have passed a budget in the united states senate. >> let's talk about that lack of leadership so many people have criticized the president for not reaching out and being a leader and bringing in republicans to really get to know them on every level so they can perhaps negotiate a deal. president obama took a moment to address the criticism within the beltway he hasn't spend enough time developing personal relationships with members of cog. >> most people who know me know i'm a pretty friend lip guy and i like a good party. personal relationships are important and obviously, i can always do a better job. the nice thing is now that my girls are getting older, they don't want to spend that much time with me anyway. i'll be probably calling around looking for somebody to play cards with me or something because i'm getting kind of lonely in this big house. >> a quick search, just for the record, shows over the president's first

me so much. can we get a resolution to the issue? lou: do you agree? fire harry reid and the democratic leadership that failed to pass a budget? almost four years? >> well, i -- that's going to happen. president obama spent the first four year i trying to get along with the republicans. they wouldn't do it. he's back in office, and leading up until yesterday, refused to cooperate. he drew the line in the sand, and, you know, it started to work. republicans came to the senses, okay, not touching the debt ceiling, let it float. in return, you see the democrats in the senate drawing up a budget. i think obama's -- his olive branch is, okay, i'll take this one extension to bring stability to the situation, but it's not happening again because we have to get the job doab. it's progress. it's better than the last few months. lou: some combative about it and characterize the president as being so contentious. it's the first intelligent step taken by the republicans and gives, you know, i i think hope to the nation, the first intelligent step taken by the president. they actu

in the capitol the president, speaker john boehner, majority leader harry reid and a few others. you can imagine what the atmosphere will be like given a lot of words that have flown back and work, particularly between speaker boehner and majority leader reed. for a little more insight on all this, i contacted andy card, president george bush's first white house chief of staff. he was here the day of the inauguration back in 2001 and told me he expects there may be a bit of a similar atmosphere to that of 12 years ago. here's what he told me. >> i suspect it will probably be a lot like the atmosphere that george w. bush experienced in his first term of office. it was a little bit chilly and cold, but at the same time, you can't help but be wrapped up in the excitement of an inauguration. >> andy card also told me he was one of those republicans, although he didn't support president obama, he was very excited for historic reasons about his inauguration back in 2009. i have spoken to a number of republicans over the past few days about the excitement of the inauguration. they all said they will be

just mentioned, martha, it has been almost four years since harry reid and the democrats have passed a budget. i think there is a larger point here. everybody in washington, especially the democrats, are celebrating the republicans blinked here and there is no question they blinked in the showdown with the president and are giving him another three-month debt extension. you know the real problem and i just want to make this point, the problem isn't whether we are going to have a debt limit showdown, the problem is that we are borrowing $16.4 trillion. all we are doing here, martha to be realistic about it is we are saying, coach doing what you're doing, we are going to keep borrowing at the same pace. this is not a solution. martha: matt, i look at this i feel like every time there is a so-called deadline we all know that the deadlines are so squishy and congress always figures out some way not to have to feel with the deadline and live in the real world and get the work done. i think people are sick to death of this. >> we've almost become numb to it i think. last year when this was
